An overall great weekend of learning at Road America with The Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli and NASCAR! The event started out rough for us in Trans Am after some engine difficulties. Luckily Kevin Pranger from Katech was with us every step of the way to get our bullet back on track. We qualified P2 after limited time on track for practice. The day of our race the skies opened up and the rain came down. We took the green and slotted into P2 and began to get into a rhythm. P1 ran into a mechanical issue a few laps in and we took the lead. Once we took the lead we grew up to a 30 second gap over the field until the one and only caution came out. The race was restarted with 3 laps left and we knew we had to run some fast laps to stay ahead of the field. When the track went green we set fast lap and got the safe gap we needed to take home our 6th win of the season!

On to my first weekend of NASCAR xFinity racing. It was an honor to be able to race on such short notice in the Johnsonville 180 at Road America. We knew going into the weekend that we had a mid pack car at best in the dry. During initial testing we had a differential blow up on us, then a brake line the following session. We calculated I had about 10 laps of practice going into qualifying and I was placed as high as 17th before the car had its issues.
Qualifying was cancelled due to weather so we started the race by points. That set us all the way back in 38th. We hoped the rain that fell earlier in the day would stay for the race and aid our efforts. The rain eventually did stop and we got underway in dry conditions. After the start I made my way up to 30th in the first few laps. A caution came out and some cars pitted and I found myself inside the top 20. We held our position after the restart fighting as hard as we could. We struggled all weekend with lack of power and running in traffic did not help our cause. We ended stage one inside the top 20 and I attempted my first ever NASCAR pitstop. It all went smooth and we made our way back on track. When the green flag came out we continued to battle cars around us for a few laps. 3 laps after the race was restarted the oil pump seized and I lost oil pressure. I was told by the crew to bring the car into the pit lane. I nursed the car back to the pit lane where it was decided our race was over.
All in all it was an amazing experience that I look forward to doing again. We kept the car clean all weekend and proved we could hang with the best in the Xfinity field.

I can't thank The Original Frameless Shower Doors enough for supporting us this weekend. We all feel it is the start of a strong partnership. I also would like to thank everyone at NASCAR for being so helpful during my sudden need for a license.

Thank you everyone who watched and cheered us on all weekend. I can't wait to do it again with some better luck and stronger car!
